The Hope For Paws rescuers couldn’t get to their destination fast enough after they received a call about a dog who was unlucky enough to be hit by a car and was resting at the caller’s home. When they arrived at the address, the dog could be seen struggling to maintain a sitting position — and then he fell. One of the rescuers hurried to his side and picked him up as gently as she could without wasting time.

By the time they had him safely inside their vehicle, his eyes were already closed, and he didn’t wake up for the rest of the drive. The impact of being hit by a car could result in the swelling of the brain and his unconscious state wasn’t exactly reassuring, so they brought him straight to the hospital to receive medical attention. After being medicated to reduce the swelling, he was able to open his eyes once again, and when he tried to sit on the bed, he no longer fell.

His condition was still considered critical, however, and he had to remain at the hospital for weeks so that he could be properly monitored. His recovery was gradual but certain, and with consistent looking after, he was soon able to get back his strength and show everyone just how loving and playful he could be. His new friends at Hope For Paws were more than happy to oblige. They named him Tux.

After he left the hospital, he spent a few weeks at a foster home where he continued to be showered with affection — by staff members and dogs alike. It didn’t take too long for Hope For Paws to find him his very own forever home though, and his new master was just as excited as he was for this new beginning.
